Amal's father was martyred two days after he had realized from the prisons of the Zionist occupation, where he suffered from blood poisoning as a result of an injection that the jailer gave him by mistake as a pain reliever. This loss was just the beginning of the events that Amal lived.
Ten months after her father's death, Amal married and began her life in prison instead of creating her own family, as she received an official notification from the occupation authorities on her first visit to her family's home. She went with her sister to ask about the reason behind the notification. Once Amal mentioned her name when they arrived at the Shejaiya Center, she was arrested on 5/1/1973 AD.
She had transferred from the Shejaiya Center to the Gaza Central Prison then her interrogation began immediately. Amal did not answer the questions they asked, so the investigator started hitting her face and then left her in a narrow and dark place without a sign of life.
The first night was full of thinking until a prisoner came and took her to the investigation. He was pulling her hard while Amal was exhausted and dizzy so she grabbed the stairs, but the prisoner treated her as if she was not a human by grabbing her hair and dragging her in a hideous way.
Amal reached the interrogation room while screaming, and promptly met an investigator called "Abu Salem". In a room contained; a table, three chairs for the investigator and a female soldier, they gently began the tries to extract her confessions, as the investigator said that this soldier was too nervous and they would punish him for not treating her well.
The tried to make her confess to letting her go, but she told him that she did not know anything. Therefore, Abu Salem insulted her and asked her to stand up and hold the chair that she was sitting on with one hand besides raising her right foot for twenty minutes. Whenever Amal tried to lower her hand a little, he kicked her with her foot.
The twenty minutes ended and the investigator asked her the same questions but she did not answer, so he grabbed her head and hit it with the table. He started kicking her with his feet and hands everywhere on her body with full force. In order to get a little rest from this torment, Amal told him that she was carrying a child in her womb, but he hit her more strongly, saying: "O bitch, you married a month ago?"
The interrogator's kicks increased on her stomach, and she fell to the ground, leaving the place full of blood.
She had no idea that her trick was real because the bleeding was from the embryo in her gut, and then she was transferred to a hospital, then to another hospital in Majdal to abort the embryo.
The treatment period had been ended and she returned to prison without paying attention to her health condition. They questioned her every two hours, and every time she refused to confess so they tortured her more.
They did not only tortured her, but only they brought her husband and hit him in front of her, but they did not get any confession. After that, they brought her colleague, who confessed under torture that Amal was helping in transporting weapons.
This was her great shock, which made her confess to Abu Yunis, who beat her with great force in the investigation. As a result, she was sentenced to three years in prison.
Amal was transferred to prison to share with her prison colleagues their sadness and joy, to work on embroidery, to carve on the wall and to sing national and popular anthems.
Prison life was very harsh and full of torture and diseases until the day of her freedom. She was sitting with her roommates when a female soldier came and called her name, after twelve o'clock at night, to inform her that she ended her time in prison.
Amal went out despite the late time and found a driver who was passing by the prison, so he took her to the house to surprise everyone there because she was finally out.
